    Library Vision Statement

    The vision of the library at Powell Middle School is to promote:

    1. Literacy
    2. Responsible and innovative use of technology
    3. Academic Research

    Students are invited to actively take part in the process of systematically selecting reading materials to be added to our library collection. Readers are challenged to investigate the stacks of literature and online resources available in the library to find text that engages their own interests and supports academic success.

    Library Mission Statement

    The mission of the library at Powell Academy of Military Science is to develop positive reading, and research habits to enrich reading fluency and reading comprehension, and equipping students for a lifetime of reading and academic achievement.

    November Book of the Month

     

     

     

     

    The series draws its name from the school which many of the characters attend: Bluford High, named after Guion "Guy" Bluford, America's first black astronaut. Click on the book cover and listen to the first audiobook in the Bluford Series, which centers on the life of Bluford sophomore Darcy Wills. Darcy contends with the return of her long-absent father, the troubling behavior of her younger sister Jamee, and the beginning of her first relationship.

     Insignia     is an online bibliography of Powell's library collection available to our school community.

                          

     Jackson Hinds Library System   provides a multitude of educational resources for students, parents, teachers and others in Jackson, Mississippi and Hinds County.


     Magnolia
      provides online resources for publicly funded K-12 schools, public libraries, community college libraries, and university libraries in Mississippi.

     

      Teacher Resource Center   Teacher Resource Center provides teachers with a multitude of resources to assist with classroom projects and to upgrade technological and professional skills.
