  • ¸Û°Äͼ¿â Names New Executive Director of Athletics

    Kennieth Green, Executive Director

    Mr. Kennieth Green, has served as the Executive Athletic Director since July 1, 2024. He directly oversees football, track & field, cross-country, powerlifting and cheerleading. Other direct responsibilities include out of state travel, residential concerns, football stadiums, uniform approval, game schedules, and paraprofessional coaches.  Mr. Green graduated from Clarksdale High School in 1995.  In 1999, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Jackson State University.  Mr. Green also earned a Master’s of Science degree in Biology from Jackson State University in 2002 and earned his Specialist’s in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2005.

    Mr. Green has 22 years of teaching and administrative experience.  Mr. Green began teaching in the Canton Public School District in 2002 as a 6th-8th grade Science teacher.  Mr. Green also served as a college instructor at Holmes Community College from 2004-2006, where he taught General Biology.  Mr. Green began his administrative career at Jim Hill High School, where he served as the 10th grade Assistant Principal and School Level Athletic Director from 2006-2013.  During his time as an assistant principal and school level athletic director at Jim Hill High School, the Jim Hill Boy’s basketball team won the 6A State Boy’s Basketball Championship in 2012.  In January 2014,  Mr. Green was promoted to principal at Murrah High School.  He served as principal at Murrah High from 2014-2016.   During his time as principal at Murrah High School, the Murrah Girl’s basketball team won the 6A Girl’s Basketball State Championship in 2016.  Mr. Green has also served as the principal of Cardozo Middle School from 2016-2018 and the principal of Bailey APAC Middle School from 2018-2021.  Under Mr. Green leadership in 2019, Bailey APAC was given the distinction as the #1 Middle School in the State of Mississippi.

    Mr. Green is an active member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. where he serves his community through participating in providing annual scholarships to students, conducting annual ACT Prep Workshops in Science, conducting annual can food drives, and health fairs.  Mr. Green is married to his wife Aarolyn and has three wonderful children; Kennieth Green II, Kennedy Green, and Kendell Green.

     

     

  • Crowley

    William Crowley, Associate Athletic Director

    Mr. William Brandon Crowley will serve as Associate Athletic Director for Jackson Public Schools for the 2024-2025 school year. Mr. Crowley is a native of Jackson, MS and a 2004 ¸Û°Äͼ¿â graduate. He directly oversees Soccer, Swimming, Baseball, Softball, Golf, Band, Speech & Debate and Choir. Other direct responsibilities include Dragonfly coordinator, managing the athletic website, athletic publicity, athletic technology, school booster club liaison, professional development for coaches, stadium safety plan, Hughes field manager and overseeing school level athletic directors. 
    Mr. Crowley is a graduate of Jackson State University where he earned his bachelor's in marketing. He later received his Master's of Education and Specialist in Leadership from Mississippi College. He brings 12 years of teaching, instructional leadership, and athletics and activities experience to his new role. His professional experience began in 2012 at Brinkley Middle School as a teacher and head basketball coach. He transitioned to Murrah High School in 2014 as a teacher and assistant boy's basketball coach. In 2016, he served as the school’s academic interventionist. In 2018, Mr. Crowley became assistant principal and athletic director for Murrah High School.
    Mr. Crowley is passionate about the value of athletics and extracurricular activities, and he believes they play a critical role in the development of students’ overall success. Mr. Crowley’s philosophy is that opportunities provided by extracurricular participation should be equitable, diverse, and innovative. Under his leadership at Murrah he directly supported a superior rated choir and band program, and state champions of E-Sports and Speech and Debate.
     Mr. Crowley is excited about the opportunity to expand extracurricular opportunities for all students of Jackson Public Schools.
     
     
  • purvis

    Oranette Purvis, Athletics Coordinator

    Ms. Oranette Purvis is the Athletics Coordinator.  As the Athletics Coordinator, she is responsible for managing athletic event workers, Go Fan game & scheduling set up, scheduling meals for team travel, scheduling team transportation, Christmas Basketball Tournament Coordinator, preliminary basketball schedule approval, filling warehouse orders, organizing & maintaining warehouse inventory, South Jackson Field manager, Live Streaming of Events, football helmet reconditioning, gymnasium safety plans, gymnasium facility maintenance, tryout approval, after school workout approval, game ejections, and oversee volleyball, basketball and tennis. 

    Ms. Purvis is a native of Jackson, MS and a 1991 graduate of Provine High School. She attended Hinds Community College for her undergraduate studies. Ms. Purvis has over 23 years of experience in office management, human resources and budgeting. She joined the Jackson Public School District in 1999 as an office assistant at Van Winkle Elementary School where she worked from 1999 to 2006.  In 2006, she was promoted to office manager at Marshall Elementary, where she served from 2006 to 2015.  In 2015, Ms. Purvis was appointed as the administrative secretary in the ¸Û°Äͼ¿â Athletic Department where she currently works. She enjoys the challenges and rewards that come with the daily operations of the athletic office.

    Ms. Purvis is an active member of Zion Travelers MB Church where she serves her community through several church-related community programs. She is the proud mother of 2 children, a daughter, Ciara-Kiona, and a son, Orin.  Outside the office, she enjoys shopping, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.

    Nolan Bass, Sports Facilities Maintenance

    Summary of Duties:

     

    · Maintain grounds in impeccable condition at all times (litter and debris control, custodial work, basic landscaping, etc.)

    · Spearhead the clean-up after events

    · Preserve all athletic fields and keep them in optimal condition

    · Help establish and exemplify high efficiency standards of operations

    · Maintain the structural and aesthetic integrity of the complex

    · Maintain shrubbery and landscaping throughout the facility

    · Perform general maintenance of sports equipment

    · Prepare athletic fields for sporting events and rentals (this includes both field lining and equipment set up for soccer & softball fields)

    · Provide excellent customer service (providing information and directions, enforcing regulations compliance, etc.)

    · Prepare Sports Complex for sporting events and cleaning grounds, stands and bathrooms after events
